The platinum selling R&B sensation and the “slow wind” artist is slated to perform in Tanzania soon. This is due to the one8 campaign that saw eight of Africa’s artists including our very own Ali Kiba teaming up with R.Kelly to release the Airtel song “Hands across the world”. The telecom company is embarking on hosting concerts in each country that the eight African artists hail from.

NICKI MINAJ: 2010 is the best of her`s?

THE ROYAL PEEK: NICKI MINAJ.
Nicki Minaj is on the cover of King Magazine.

Nicki Minaj graces the March/April issue of King magazine. She also talks about her aspirations to be a Hollywood actress. Shocker. Here's some of the interview.
KING: History has shown that acting is the likeliest transition for rappers. Considering your background, do you want to dabble in Hollywood?
NICKI MINAJ: "Of course."
What would be your dream role?
NICKI: "I’d like to play someone in a Tim Burton movie, where I get dressed up and painted and crazy."
You kind of do that now.
NICKI: "Then I want to be able to do some action stuff, like Angelina Jolie."
Like in Salt?
NICKI: "Yes! And then I’d like to just play a regular girl who, you know, is facing the world. Something really sentimental and organic, that girls all around the world can identify with. You know, how Jada Pinkett Smith did in Jason’s Lyric."
Classic film. You did mention earlier how everything has been time consuming. But when that time frees up, what kind of guy do you look for to be sentimental and organic with?
NICKI: "Um, I look for someone who is calm, someone who is strong enough to not have to win every argument, someone who allows a woman to be her crazy self and someone with a conscience not to feel less of a man. You know, someone who is able to honor his woman but also bring out the freak in his woman."
How should your Ken bring out the freak in you, Barbie?
NICKI: "Just being super aggressive when the time is right."
Are we talking about Mortal Kombat–style “Come here” aggression?
NICKI: "Just something that makes me feel like they’re in control, when we are behind closed doors."

DONDA HALIFUGWI!

Nilijitazama nikafurahia ngozi yangu. Ngozi nzuri nilo pewa na Muumba. Inang’aa iso na kovu. Wote walitambua hilo pindi walipo niona ingawa walijua fika mie mtu shamba. Mtu shamba nilo pewa lift ya kuingia mjini.

Hapo nilipo wekwa ndo panishangaza. Akili yangu yashindwa tofautisha ungo na mwamvuli. Mvua yanyesha na nimejifunika ungo kujikinga. Ninalowa hili hali nimejifunika.

Nimezungukwa na watu wengi. Tunaangaliana tunafurahi. Mmmh! Nisitie chokochoko mtu shamba mie nikarudishwa polini.

Donda halifugwi mtu shamba nasema wazi. Ogopa mana lakuvunda halina ubani.

Donda halifugwi, Chambuka Chanika Maimuna, donda halifugwi!

Sheria Ngowi is an Exciting Tanzanian`s Young Designer to Watch … Or Just Look at.

It’s a bit of a find when you come across a designer with a fresh yet wearable take on men’s clothing. So, we got a little excited about this sneak peak at Tanzanian fashion designer Sheria Ngowi’s Spring 2011 menswear line. The combination of swagger (Two-tone jackets!) and old-school geek chic (Bow ties!) in his designs really grabbed our attention. Or was it the models?
No matter, because Ngowi is one of the models. Yep, that’s him in the middle below. Plenty of female designers start out in the industry as models, but male fashion designers with the good looks and physique to be the face of their own brand are far rarer creatures.

Ngowi’s first collection came out in 2008 under the name Sheria Na Mavazi in Mysore, India. And, though he is currently focusing on menswear, there was originally a women’s line as well. He has said he wants to give his full attention to one gender at a time, but that he would like to return to clothes for women in the future. His first official collection came out in 2009 under his own name. The debut was dedicated to his late father, who Ngowi says had a great sense of style.
Ngowi likes to juxtapose bold colors and flashy fabrics with precise tailoring and old-fashioned details. He really knows how to work with red plaid and sharkskin so that the finished piece looks vintage instead of tacky.
His new lookbook reveals that he has refined his methods even more, with form fitting double breasted jackets that are restrained without being dull. Very cool.
Ngowi currently creates made-to-order suits in Bangalore, India, where he attended college. He ships worldwide from his home studio. But he and his designs will soon be found
in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. He is returning home to open his own flagship store in 2011. Check out his blog here.
